Douglas Lui, CPA, CA

Douglas has over 25 years’ experience in finance, governance and compliance. He is a Vancouver-based partner actively involved in several portfolio companies as strategic advisor and resident executive roles, in addition to overseeing due diligence on all prospective and portfolio companies.

His current appointments include: Board Member of Aptera Motors, world’s first fully-solar vehicle based in California with US$100M+ raised and 43,000+ pre-order at $1,5B value; Strategic Leader of SANS, founded by star of Netflix Bling Empire; Member of Fast Company Executive Board, leading publication on global fast growth companies; Executive in Residence of Foresight Canada, Canada’s leading organization with mission to be first G7 country to reach net zero carbon emission; and advisory roles in other Fintech, Proptech, Medtech, and other tech-based companies.

His last corporate appointment was a senior executive role reporting to the Board for Sands China Ltd., the largest developer, owner and operator of multi-use integrated resorts in Macao and the largest gaming operator in the world, including the famous Venetian Hotel. Sands China is HKEx HSI top constituent with over US$40B market cap.

Before that, he held global and regional executive roles in the legendary Peninsula Hotels group and the enterprise software giant SAP AG. While based in New York and LA, he was the Global Finance Director of Universal Music Group and Group Controller for the Universal Studios Group. After that, he held an executive role in one of the largest financial institutions in Southern California with over US$20B in asset.

He is on the Board of Governors for Institute of Internal Audit (to 2020) and an active member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
